GFS Announces New Executive Chef

Grounds For Sculpture is excited to announce the appointment of Shane Cash as the new Executive Chef at Rat’s Restaurant. Cash brings his exceptional reputation as a fine dining chef and years of experience creating dynamic cuisine for memorable special events.

Cash takes over as Executive Chef following the tenure of Top Chef winner Kevin Sbraga. In this role, Cash led the full-service catering and contract dining group which included corporate and nonprofit clients to numerous awards and distinctions.

Cash joined the Starr Restaurants family in 2008 as Chef Consultant for Teplitzky’s at The Chelsea in Atlantic City. He was then asked to be the opening Executive Chef of Butcher & Singer, one of Starr’s steakhouses in Philadelphia, recognized as Philadelphia’s favorite steakhouse and the recipient of a coveted 3-Bell review in the Philadelphia Inquirer. After a year at Butcher & Singer, he was selected to be Divisional Executive Chef for Stephen STARR Events, which included overseeing the culinary direction and programs for all of the company’s various operations. Before working for Starr, Cash spent eight years honing his culinary skills with New York’s acclaimed Fireman Hospitality Group, cooking in establishments including the Redeye Grill and Shelley’s Prime Steak and Oyster Bar, where he received Forbes Magazine’s “Editors Choice of Excellence” citation and was recognized by The New York Times, New York Post, and Gourmet Magazine. Cash also teaches and trains food service professionals at the White House several times a year.

“I am excited to be a part of the team at Grounds For Sculpture and Rat’s Restaurant,” says Chef Shane Cash. “We will be focusing on local and sustainable foods, as well as maintaining seasonality with our menus.” Cash further notes in taking the reins of a restaurant featuring country French cuisine, “The restaurant and its setting at The Grounds are so stunning—I’m looking forward to the challenge of creating food that further elevates our guest’s experience.”
