Bubble Wrap Sculpture Workshop held at GFS

By D.J. Haslett, Admissions staff/Instructor

On Saturday, May 22, I had the pleasure of instructing a Bubble Wrap Workshop along with Steve and Lorraine of MM2. About a hundred people of all ages attended the family workshop…kids, moms, dads, grandmas, grandpas and their friends.

Before we started the workshop we took one sheet of Bubble Wrap and allowed kids to walk on it to pop some of the bubbles…it sounded like the 4th of July! Then we got down to business.  Steve played a CD of dance music to set the mood, while Lorraine, a professional dancer, went through various movements to serve as a live model and inspiration for the group.

The sculptures created varied widely: animals, flowers, people, and abstract pieces. With just a bit of direction many beautiful pieces were fashioned from the Bubble Wrap® packaging, and once again I was reminded that the creative spirit is alive and well in all of us.

Below is an assortment of the sculptures created:

I heard the “fire works” and was not quite sure what was going on. Your pictures are great and what a fun idea! Thanks for sharing this wonderful experience.
